How/When Acquired This machine is a side of the road find. Back in February of this year, I bumped into a friend who had been out walking her dog.
She told me about a machine that she had seen in a back alley not far away. This is that machine (a couple of hours later!) Machine Specifications I haven't actually been able to find out much about this machine. The internet isn't helping me much on this one. Gritzner had quite a number of ownership changes over the years, with it's final owners being Pfaff. Even if I could make out the serial number (I've had a good guess at it, but it's really hard to read, and you can't make out anything in the photo), I have't been able to find any info regarding Gritzner serial numbers.
Hi, I have a Gritzner and I could not sew without it. Teknik sipil itb. It's a VS and most Singer parts are compatible with it (my 'Eveline' is a clone of the Singer Class 28 model).

If you're still lookinf for information on this firm = & It's in French, but thanks to Google translation tool, you'll be able to understand the most of it. Gritzner produced its 1.000.000 machine in 1901/1902 and its 2.000.000 machine in 1910. Have a nice day, Callisto (from Brussels, Belgium).
Today I bought a Gritzner Durlach handcrank machine at a yard sale. I have read that they are patterned after the Singer 12, but know little more than that about them.
Gritzner Durlach Sewing Machine Serial Number
Any one know where the serial numbers are found on the machine? My machine is black and has most of the gold trims worn off, but the Mother of Pearl flower design is in the center of the machine and has a little chip out of the design. There is a Mother of Pearl border around the base of the machine. It has more of a fancy coffin case top rather than just the bentwood cases of the Singer 99's. I am sorry that I can't post pictures of it. Any information that anyone can give me as to how to date it and where to get the threading instructions for it would be helpful. I went to the Singer site and asked for the Singer 12 instructions, and it showed 101-12, or something like that.
What size needle does it take? Where can I get some?
